Germany is a land of ideas where education, science and research play a central role. It is also one of the most popular destinations in the world for international students. There is a wealth of funding available for graduate and doctoral students interested in studying, working, or doing an internship in Germany. Selected scholarships, programs, and other funding opportunities from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH), the Carl Duisberg Society (CDS), the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the German Research Foundation (DFG), the German-American Fulbright Commission (Fulbright), the Helmholtz Association (Helmholtz), the Leibniz Association (Leibniz), the Max-Planck-Gesellschaft (MPG) and others are listed in alphabetical order below.

The programme is under the patronage of the German Chancellor and also incorporates an intensive language course in Germany, a four-week introductory seminar in Bonn and Berlin, a study trip around Germany and a final meeting in Berlin. Candidates from all professions and disciplines, but especially individuals in the humanities, law, social sciences and economics, are encouraged to apply. Internship placements are available in a variety of fields, including, but not limited to business, engineering, finance, tourism, IT, media/communications, international relations, the nonprofit sector, German studies and economics. Most internships are paid and scholarships are available to qualified participants that receive unpaid internships. Accepted participants will receive a scholarship application following acceptance to the program. A limited number of language course stipends are also available for those who qualify.
